Kuwait Sustainable Goals Vision KHOA
Project Overview
This project aims at establishing a specialized evidence-based policy development center to support development planning and acts as a roadmap to
achieving Kuwait’s “2035 Vision” in light of its pledge to the UN 2030 Agenda.
In its plans to improve the quality of policymaking in Kuwait, UNDP collaborates closely with the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for
Planning and Development (GSSCPD), by supporting the establishment of a landmark Kuwait Public Policy Centre (KPPC), to address the country’s
policy-making gaps and mainstream policy research and analysis studies, and stand as a reliable resource that influences national policies and
strategies.
The GSSCPD aims to strengthen Kuwait’s public policy planning mechanisms and capacity ahead of the next KNDP 2020-2025 policy design cycle, to
design strong, dynamic, and efficient policies from the onset.
This need highlights the necessity of establishing a policy research centre that reviews the status of policy making, collects accurate data on all public
strategies, and collaborates with stakeholders to utilise research and produce policy papers.
This vision will be reached through such interdependent and interlinked factors, including, support for institutional and technical preparation for the
establishment of KPPC, establishment of capacity building for KPPC knowledge and behavioural insights and reinforcement of advocacy, outreach,
and partnership development for the KPPC.
The project additionally provides the framework for how UNDP will accompany the GSSCPD in its establishment of this centre as it will operate under
the umbrella of the GSSCPD.
